Had a genuine experience with a local business? Share an honest review to help other people make a more informed choice.

TownConnect reviews are designed to add useful first-hand context to business listings. Review forms may use different rating criteria depending on the type of business being reviewed, so the feedback is more relevant to that experience.

Where to leave a review

Open the Town Connect listing for the business you want to review and go to the Reviews section. Select Write Review to open the review form.

Give your review a useful title

Start with a short title that summarises your experience. Useful examples include:

  • Reliable service and clear communication
  • Comfortable stay with excellent service
  • Good quality work and delivered on time
  • Great location, but room could be improved

Write about your genuine experience

Use the main review field to explain what happened and why you gave the ratings you selected.

  • what product or service you used
  • what went particularly well
  • anything that could have been better
  • whether the service matched what you expected
  • details that may help another customer decide whether the business is suitable for them.

Rate the areas that matter for that type of business

Town Connect can show different review criteria for different business categories.

Professional and service businesses

  • Quality of Work - the standard of the completed work or service
  • Communication - how clearly and consistently the business communicated
  • Understanding of Requirements - how well the business understood what was needed
  • Value for Money - whether the service represented reasonable value for the price paid

Hotels and accommodation

  • Facilities - the quality and usefulness of the facilities available
  • Cleanliness - the cleanliness of rooms and shared areas
  • Service - the standard of service received
  • Value for Money - how the overall experience compared with the price paid

Other business categories may use different criteria that better reflect the type of experience being reviewed.

How to use the star ratings

Think about each criterion separately rather than automatically giving every category the same score. A business may provide excellent work but slower communication, or a hotel may have very good service but more basic facilities.

Add Likes and Dislikes

The Likes and Dislikes fields are intended for short keywords or brief phrases.

Examples of Likes:

  • friendly staff,
  • quick response,
  • great location,
  • high-quality work,
  • good value.

Examples of Dislikes:

  • limited parking,
  • slow response,
  • small room,
  • long waiting time.

If there was nothing significant to dislike, do not invent a negative point simply to fill the field.

Add your name and email address

The review form asks for your name and email address. Your email address is used as part of the submission process and is not published on the Town Connect listing.

What makes a helpful review?

  • First-hand - based on an experience you actually had.
  • Specific - explains what happened rather than giving only a score.
  • Balanced - includes positives and negatives where relevant.
  • Relevant - focuses on the business, service or visit being reviewed.
  • Respectful - criticism can be clear without becoming abusive or personal.

What should I avoid?

  • describing an experience you did not personally have
  • trying to manipulate a business's rating
  • threats, harassment or discriminatory abuse
  • publishing private personal information
  • serious allegations you cannot support
  • advertising, spam or unrelated promotional content

If you have a commercial, employment or personal relationship with the business that could affect your impartiality, do not present the review as an independent customer experience.

User reviews and Town Connect Editorial Reviews are different

Some listings may also contain a Town Connect Editorial Review. This is produced through Town Connect's editorial process and is separate from reviews submitted by users to maintain objectivity and authenticity of users inputs. As a growing business and local discovery platform Town Connect strives to produce helpful content for both, individual and business users.

Does a Verified Listing mean the reviews are guaranteed?

No. A Verified Listing relates to the status or confirmation of the business listing information. It does not mean Town Connect guarantees every customer experience or endorses every review submitted about that business.

Likewise, an Enhanced or Featured listing may provide additional information or promotional visibility, but it does not determine what score a user should give the business.

Why your review matters

A detailed review can help another person understand whether a business is likely to suit their needs. It can also give the business useful feedback about what customers value and where the experience could be improved.
