The Groggshop

Independent Business
The Grogg Shop, also known as World of Groggs, is a family-run ceramics workshop, gift shop and rugby heritage museum situated on Broadway in Treforest, near Pontypridd. Established in 1965 by John Hughes, the business has become a distinctive part of Welsh cultural and sporting heritage, producing handcrafted ceramic figures recognised by collectors around the world.

Its famous Grogg figures feature Welsh rugby legends, international sporting stars, musicians, entertainers and historical characters, alongside traditional Welsh dragons, miners and humorous sheep. Each figure is carefully modelled, moulded and hand-painted, with limited editions and personalised pieces available for collectors and gift buyers.

The shop also houses a fascinating collection of rugby memorabilia, including match-worn shirts, historic Grogg figures and displays tracing the development of the family business. Visitors can explore the small museum free of charge, discover the craftsmanship behind the figures and purchase unique Welsh-made gifts.
