The Tipsy Owl
Independent Business
Tucked away beneath High Street, The Tipsy Owl is an independent cocktail bar with a distinctive speakeasy-style setting and a strong connection to Pontypridd.
Cocktails are a major part of the menu, including original drinks inspired by Welsh stories, places and local ingredients. The bar also serves coffee, Welsh and craft beers, wine and other drinks, making it just as suitable for a relaxed daytime visit as an evening out.
Live music, open-mic nights and special events regularly form part of the week, while the intimate basement setting gives the venue a character quite different from a conventional town-centre pub.

“Editorial Summary
A Speakeasy-Style Standout in Pontypridd
The Tipsy Owl is worth highlighting because it has developed a recognisable identity rather than feeling like another standard cocktail bar. Its hidden location, locally influenced drinks and regular live entertainment give it a strong sense of place. It was also named Best Bar in Wales in 2025 and returned as a finalist in the 2026 Welsh Hospitality Awards.
